Um... Yeah you can pretty much say anything and get criticized in this game. Guildwars is just as bad with elitist players as pay to play no-lifer mmo's.

GW PUGs are filled with idiots who don't like their builds criticized.

You don't need to be an elitist to see when someone is a dumbass with a horrible build - Guild Wars is NOT hard to see when a build sucks, and not hard to just listen to the smart guy and load the good build he pinged for you.

it's the internet, everyone wants to act big and bad thinking their the best. If they start saying stuff you don't like just say stuff back, or leave.

It really isn't that black and white.

I mean, I throw around insults on the internet (and in my personal life) from time to time (mainly on this site out of all the ones I visit), not to sound sound tough, its just that some of you say some really stupid shit and I feel obliged to help you realize that in the meanest way possible.

OP, I highly doubt you were as innocent as you claim (not that it justifies the persons reaction to your "suggestion"), don't make yourself out to be a victim in something so petty..

Why are people posting offtopic discussion if the situation is black or white anyways?
That isn't what this thread is about. At all.

Bah, screw it. Question had already been answered with a logical explanation earlier <_<

Have you ever sat in a group for an hour waiting to form?

Now, add into that time retheorycrafting of the party's team build, that hour just turned into 3.

If I'm starting a group and I already know what I want (whether this be PvP or PvE), anybody that is going to keep disagreeing and trying to get things changed is getting kicked. While "get a life" is on par with such comments as "noob" or "umad", in this case it works very well as the rest of the group do not have the time to sit around and talk about builds for an extra hour.

But in all seriousness if you join a group, find out they are terrible, and stay, then it is your own fault. Likewise if you join a group, tell them they need to change stuff, and are surprised when they react harshly, it is still your own fault.

What is with people always saying that in the most out of context manor?

Notably when you leave a group.

Say you don't like what they're running. You suggest an improvement because you're not rude enough to tell them the blunt truth that the warrior is useless and no team synergy outside of Ursan is a [email protected] action and that they should bring SY while they're off Ursan. You get kicked and get told "Get a life".
So you question it. "Not everyone wants to play with a know it all"
Ok, that's fine. But that was so illogical. From suggesting an improvement, you suddenly don't have a life?

Another situation. A group you join as a healer is too filled with humans for you to take your heroes but they're lacking staple roles like an MM or curses necro. So you leave. "Get a life". "You're wasting my time"
Okay. So I left a group and "wasted his time" after he begged for a healer, an experienced one while I'm at it. And now he was harassing me to get a life for wasting his time. I tell him to stop pming me if I'm wasting his time. Guess what? He keeps bothering me about nonesense. And when he stops, he bothers me again 5 minutes later. I thought I was wasting his time?!?!

How do these situations relate whatsoever to "getting a life"? I've heard this at least 14 times this week.

Anyways, share your thoughts and experiences. Quite frankly, I'm wondering what's up with all the "get a life" insults in pugging as of lately.
You don't improve, you get no better, and therefor you stay in the same spot and have no life.

Edited for length and to emphasize obvious elitist attitude.

So, you "politely" tell anyone playing a warrior that they're useless. You adroitly express their need to run a (thankfully nerfed) cookie cutter Ursan build that requires zero skill and only a half-consious player to run. You demand as a healer to bring whatever heroes you want regardless of whether it requires the group leader to kick other humans, and if he doesn't you take your healing ball and go home...

Maybe hearing it 14 times in a day isn't nearly enough.

Going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume English isn't your first language.

He was referring to the hypothetical warrior in the group who is running Ursan.

He did not say, "all warriors are useless" and you're a fool to think he did. Learn to read and comprehend English.

Wrong! He says that if someone must run Ursan (the aforementioned useless warrior) then could they at least bring useful skills alongside it to help when it's down. Learn to read and comprehend English.

The choice is to either kick some of the people and replace them with crucial builds, or to leave. I've been in groups like that before. Things like three warriors (none have SY), a ranger who is not running BHA interrupt, two elementalists (they're trying to run a nuker build in Hard Mode, apparently blissfully unaware of how useless they are), one beleaguered monk (and it's either a guy with a good build or a laughably bad one) and me.

Here's how it usually plays out:

I observe that the group is lacking in healing+protection power and has redundant warriors lacking useful builds. I observe we will fail the mission if we try.
I am told to run a heal build (Ritualist).
I point out that my Spirit Spam build deals more damage than any of them are capable of (as none of them are a critscythe or msdb assassin), and that if I went heal, we would be lacking sufficient damage. I point out that they could easily kick the useless ele or a couple warriors.
They refuse. I leave.
I H/H the mission, pick up my Zaishen Quest reward, and come back to check on them. They're still there, having failed several times.
And that's enough Guild Wars for one day.

You can hardly fault a guy for not wanting to play in a horrible team.

Now a question of my own: is English a second/third/whatever language for you, or are you just in elementary school?

eh the obvious reply is: I don't need to get a life I has infinite respawn ya know.

Anyway from experience, it's good to suggest build improvements to pugs but you have to justify your choices. They are more likely to listen if you logically explain your suggestions. Otherwise you fall back to H/H.

Thank you for clearing up things for me to others, Zahr Dalsk. It's much easier to criticize someone on first site than to actually analyze the situation, but you seem one of few intelligent people.

Though, since mrvrod had said such misleading things, I would like to officially state I AM a warrior. Mainer, that is. I think that if I see a warrior who's build is just terrible, I have the right to recommend skills to use in order to use team strategy. Especially if going into HM, as I was when I was the ritualist. What I don't get is why most of this thread is faulting me for silly things.

Though either way, this thread is extremely offtopic. It may have to get locked since people are just trying to find impulsive assumptions to criticize me about instead of the question at hand as to why specifically that is the phrase people use ~_~
